The floodgates have opened and bidding has begun on Binki Shapiro’s awesome auction Crafts for a Cause! All proceeds will go towards the critically underfunded earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. An impressive assortment of artists and musicians have crafted more than 60 unique objects for exclusively for this auction, and now’s your chance to get your hands on them.

Where else can you get a pair Kubrick’s rare Daft Punk toy robots custom-decorated by the band? How about the Taylor guitar that Grizzly Bear’s Ed Droste learned to play on? A Pentax camera pimped out by Drew Barrymore? And how about some one of a kind drawings by Spike? Crafts for a Cause has it all, and the money goes to a great cause! So go put in your bids!

Want to get some really rad crafty items made by some of your favorite artists and musicians and help out a great cause while you are doing it? Of course you do! WLYS best bud Binki Shapiro has organized some of her contemporaries to craft a bunch of one of a kind items to be auctioned of online on March 15th to help raise money for the Haitian earthquake relief efforts. It’s called Crafts for a Cause and here’s what Bink has to say about it:

My name is Binki Shapiro, and I play in the band Little Joy. In an effort to raise money for the relief efforts in earthquake-devastated Haiti, I’ve rallied a bunch of artists to contribute custom-made artwork — t-shirts, tote bags and other personalized items — for the Crafts For A Cause auction. All proceeds will go to Artists for Peace and Justice, an amazing charitable organization founded by my dear friend Paul Haggis. To learn more about them, visit www.artistsforpeaceandjustice.com

The list of items and participants is growing daily and so far includes Spike’s drawings, Conor Obert’s guitar, Natalie Portman’s ballet slippers, and all kinds of other goodies from Sia, Vampire Weekend, The Stokes and many many more. What a great idea!

Kids Song Super Group

A few years ago I was putting together a small kids album for my son and I asked a bunch of my friends to record some songs. As tends to happen I got about half way through before being taken away by more pressing projects. The other day I unearthed this track, which I thought might be nice to share with the world. It features a pre-Little Joy Binki Shapiro, Jason Boesel of Rilo Kiley and Mystic Valley Band fame, and James Valentine of Maroon 5 coming together to create a beautiful piece of children’s inspiration based on the Dr. Seuss classic “Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?”

What an amazing combination of people… Enjoy!
