The Last Word

The last five words of the story (”and it was still hot”) appear on a page without any illustrations at all, as though light had suddenly flooded the rooms of both Max and the reader. The dark, fevered dream is over.

    Dark, fevered dream is right. I watched the dvd of WTWTA over the weekend with The Boy and man did it disturb him when he loves the book so.

    For what it’s worth, can anyone think of an artist less appropriate than Carole King to sing the works of Sendak?
