What happens when you voluntarily wear the same thing, head to toe, for six months straight? Uniform 2008 is a project that aims to investigate just that question.
In collaboration with Gabrielle Raley, a Professor of Sociology at UCLA, and Wendy Mullin of Built by Wendy (who designed the uniforms), three young artists committed to outfit themselves in a single suit of custom-designed gear for six months while observing the behavioral effects of such a choice. The project deals with issues of consumerism, self-identity and conformity. Follow the young lab rats here.
